Wondering about the laminate floors

deb_paJuly 15, 2009

Read the posts about the haze on laminate floors. I was wondering since I am considering installing this type of floor, once the floor is all cleaned and dried why couldn't it be coated with a clear polyurethane finish? I have read this finish is put on painted floors and lasts a long time. Then possibly the haze wouldn't stick and would come up with regular mopping. I think it would be worth a try in one tiny, not seen corner to see if it worked. Like maybe a 6 by 6 inch square or something.

Because (good) laminate is tough as nails and doesn't need a poly coating.

I think you would void your warranty.

Use vinegar and water to clean it and you won't have any haze

The laminate I've seen comes pre-finished with a very shiny coat. Call the manufacturer.

You would ruin the floor if you poly it.

Look into Bruce Park Ave. Laminate that looks and feels like hard wood with a very pretty shine.

I use a spray bottle filled with water to spritz on my laminate floors and then wipe with a microfiber mop I have. No haze, no streaks.
This is the one I have.
