Best mop for travertine floors?

lwarren2July 22, 2006

Hi -- I don't have the floors yet :-), but wondering what sort of mop would be best for damp mopping a large area (1500-2500 sq. ft.) of travetine flooring. I would think a stone floor might have a little bit of roughness which could wear certain type mops quickly. I hate sponge mops anyway --- they shred and I never feel like I can clean them sufficiently. What about microfiber mops?? They sound good. If so, are some better than others? Does anyone have a favorite mop -- preferably washable? I have tile floor now and usually end up on my hands and knees with a paper towel.

I have a hardwood floor and found this site:

Her mop is unique because it has a foam head with velcro hooks on it. You use a towel over the head to wash the floor. Then the towel goes right into the wash. It's great because there is no smelly mop lying around.

Good luck!
