Paneled dishwasher - knob or pull? And what size

athensmomof3April 12, 2012

We have two panelled dishwashers, fully integrated. I am using knobs on everything else except the integrated fridge. Can I do a knob on my dishwasher? Will a pull look better/be more functional?

I can do either a knob, 3 1/2 inch pull (more like 6 inches long because of finials on either end - Top Knobs Somerset), or 7" pull (more like 9 inches). My builder suggested the longer one because it will be in the same run as the fridge (although hidden by the island), and I am doing the 12" pull on that.

Thoughts? What did you do?

We will be installing two Miele Dishwashers as well and will be using pulls - Restoration Hardware Lugarno pull 8".
I think pulls are better for an appliance of that size, the smallest I've seen is a cup pull.

Because a center pull/knob is pretty functional a drawer front over a panel or more drawer fronts is an option which then uses the pull/knob matching the other drawers. The magnetic catch is easy to open with an adjustable counter spring so the choice can be as functional as your drawers. But get one of each(returnable) and determine in place.
