Is a speed oven also a warming oven?

strayerdarbApril 11, 2013

So...if I get a speed oven can I skip the warming drawer? I was going to put a 3 stack: warming drawer, wall oven, microwave. But if I do a speed oven instead of a microwave, can I ditch the warming drawer?

Not anymore than your regular oven takes the place of a warming drawer.

I didn't have room for a warming oven. I use my speed oven for a warming oven all of the time. It may not be as big or hold multiple plates of food - but it holds quite a bit and works pretty darn good. I can choose low, med, or high setting and dry or moist.

The key is how often do you need more than one oven - if frequently, then it won't work - but if not, then it is fine. If you have the space and $$ - I also say - Go for it!

Plus a 3 stack - do you really want to bend down that low to put things into the warming oven.

The latest recommendation is to place the warming drawer counter height (give or take) or you won't use it.

I might be wrong, but with most ovens and cooktops having a "keep warm" mode, I personally see no reason to spare $$$$ and cabinet space to have the drawer. But I do not entertain that often.

"The latest recommendation is to place the warming drawer counter height "

This isn't the latest, it's been the preferred place all along.

It's just that more and more people that got these things out of vanity or a sales job and placed them under a wall oven and or close to the floor are coming to realize that they are a complete waste of space and money placed there.

So, if I decide I still want a warming oven do I place it at waist level, such as in the island where I serve anyway?
