Storage in Guest Bath

patty2430April 24, 2012

New house built in 2003; finally constructing guest bath in garden level. We have a spot for storage that is 52" wide, 22" deep, about 80-84" high. Our first thought is to put in lower cupboards (a 36" & a 15"); a countertop with a couple electrical outlets and maybe undermount lighting, and upper cupboards. Carpenter is building storage for us, so whatever we want. Also a 60" shower stall on the same wall (it was configured for a bathtub but we changed to a shower and had to accommodate the drain placement). Any other unique ideas out there? We have a 36" vanity on the opposite wall; will also probably put in a medicine cabinet/mirror above vanity.

That is a nice space. Have you thought about a make-up table with a nice counter, good lighting and mirror? Seems that accommodations, even many hotels, lack a place to set-out all the items one takes with when traveling and it is a mess having to continually locate things in a travel case.

Outlets for blow dryer, curling iron.

A large medicine cabinet or dedicated drawer with items guests may have forgotten such as new tooth brushes, personal shampoo, aspirin etc.

Train rack for extra towels.

Hope it turns out nicely.

Thank you fnmroberts for your suggestions--we're taking all into consideration; train rack is a great idea. Lots of work but glad to have a guest bath in the house.

How about a free-standing armoire? We were thinking about more cabinets but they turned out to be cost prohibitive. I found this at a moving sale.
