ISO good carpet cleaning company

annova914May 9, 2008

I need to have our carpets cleaned (cat hairball mess stains plus dirt that vacuum never completely gets) and not sure which one to hire: Steam Master or Service Master or some other type of steam cleaning company. (I want steam cleaning as I hated what Chem Dry did to our carpets and some furniture). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you heard of Angie's List? It's an online consumer network "rating" of various home services, businesses, everything from auto repair to manicurists, to landscapers. They may be able to find you a good local service. I use it all the time.

I tend to stick to companies that have industry certifications, so for carpet cleaners, I use IICRC companies. In my town there is also a "best of" contest held by the newspaper each year, so I use those consumer ratings as well.

I tried searching for some sort of reocmmendation/explanation of the various methods and companies, but ended up mostly pulling up spam.
I have tried asking around locally and since no one had anyone to rave about I am inclined to only use big companies. Some people say Sears, some say Chem dry, some say Stanly steemer.
I had carpets cleaned in my last house and I think it was Sears, the job was fine. I am confused with how long it takes to dry ( previously... in my last house we are talking many years ago like probably 15 or so I think these might have changed). How long did it take to dry, how long does it take for them to clean a room , any and all comments/explanation would be greatly appreciated.
