Vanity touch up

tfitz1006April 9, 2013

I have a 6 yr old Bertch vanity in the master bath, white, with a corinthian door (ridges). It is in dire need of a repaint as it is chipped around the edge of the drawers and the bottom and sides. I contacted the company and they can send me a touch up but I wonder if it is beyond "touching up". If I need to repaint altogether, would it be sanding, prime, and gloss? Do I need to do something different b/c of bathroom humidity? Thanks.

If you want to repaint, use an acrylic enamel.

Sand the chipped edges, scuff the vanity lightly with 120-150 grit sand paper. Wipe the vanity with a mild detergent. Use a tack cloth to remove any dust.

I've had good luck with foam brushes (they leave no brush marks) - apply two coats - watch for runs.

It may be easier to remove the drawers and doors. That way you can lay the doors flat to paint them.
