Is dried guacamole a bit difficult to clean from dishes.

I thought the dishwasher was malfunctioning. Three small bowls were not even close to clean. Spouse said they had been used to serve guacamole at a luncheon outside and had dried when left out in the sun.

Is guacamole at fault or is it my old dishwasher is failing fast?

Anything that dries on can be hard to clean in a dishwasher. You may want to soak the bowls in plain water or water with a bit of liquid dishwashing soap. When you use your dishwasher, make sure your dishwasher soap has plenty of enzymes. I know "Cascade Complete" was recommended to me by a Sears appliance repairman for stuiff like dried-on foods. Good luck. It is probably not your dishwasher's fault.

Yes, compared to other dried-on foods, avocado is especially tenacious. We have to pre-clean (not just rinse) by hand.
