Master Bath

fran_sApril 28, 2013

I am redoing the master bath. Removing a large whirlpool tub. A suggested plan is to have a toilet room, double vanity and 4.8" x 4.8" shower. A small portion of the existing room will become part of the bedroom closet. Would not having a tub be a mistake????? We have two other bathrooms with tubs.

In a master bath, a tub usually will not be missed if the shower is nice shower.

There will always be a small crowd that always wants a tub even if it's never used.

If this remodel is for you, do what yo want. Make the house your own. If you think you'll be reselling in a few years, then contact a realtor to get a feel for your market regarding the tub.

I completely agree with Mongoct. I am redoing my master now, and put an air tub just for resale .

Sounds like my master bath! We have an enormous whirlpool tub that is seldom used and in planning for a remodel I am including a tub. Our previous home did not have a tub in the master bathroom and I always missed it. In the house we are in now, I would love a tub that is reasonably sized to fill and relax in. It is personal preference of course and I think a large shower is great, but if relaxing in a tub in the privacy of your own master is something you would enjoy, I would say try and fit a tub into your new remodeled space.
