Plant Safe exterior house wash?

crazymommyApril 10, 2014

I posted this somewhere over on a garden forum, but I'm not sure it was the right place to post.

We need a recommendation for a house wash for mildew that is safe for perennials. My husband usually uses house bleach and a long brush, but I'm concerned that this will be bad for my plants. Is there something else that he could use?

I have never had that problem except in one place where a shrub was so dense that sun could not get through, I took it out. If I were you I would call a paint company that sells paint. I found out they have a paint that has insecticide in it, which I will use when I repaint. They may one that resists mold and mildew.

I use a bleach solution like your husband plans to do. You could cover the plants with a long plastic drop cloth. It will help pull the plants away from the wall. You leave it on just long enough to wash and rinse.

I haven't used this stuff, but it looks interesting - spray and forget

Krud Kutter Mold and Mildew Stain Remover contains no bleach. If you allow it to work, it works. Found in the paint section at Wally World. Can manually spray with bottles or do the hose hook up option.

I use dishwasher tabs hot water and small angled from home goods broom. Use on your windows also when you rinse the water runs off in sheets!

Hi,

I'm wondering what you ended up doing, as I'm researching the same thing. I found this So Safe product:

Wondering if anyone has used it?

Thanks!
