Black Smoke/Soot On Gutter

VengeFulHemiApril 5, 2012

Hello Everyone:

I have an issue that I can't seem to resolve. Over the years of gas grilling inside our covered patio, smoke from the cooking has stained the outside wall and gutter black. I have tried 50/50 bleach mix(nada), straight bleach(nada again). Granted, I have not left the solutions sit on the stain overnight, but it don't seem like it will com off. I have not scrubbed it, just sprayed on with a spayer. Any thoughts or idea's would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks:

Don

Krud Kutter cleans up soot fantastic! It is my "go to" cleaner. I have never tried the house wash, just the one in the red bottle.

Seriously, you need to scrub.

A cleaner meant for fireplace glass doors might cut the smokey greasy crud.

What material is the wall you are trying to clean made of? It is vinyl siding? Brick? Wood?

For the gutter, I would try spraying with something like 409, then let it sit for a minute or so, then wipe off. By the way, your local Goodwill sells bags of rags for $2 a bag. Buy a couple of those because you are going to want the durability of cloth, but you will want to throw them away after using them.
