claw foot tub shower curtain rod 360 degrees??

susiemwApril 11, 2013

Hi all,

I have a clawfoot tub and am looking for a shower curtain rod that allows the curtain to go 360 degrees. So far this is the only one I have found:

While not a great looking rod and doesn't really go with the look of the bathroom, it has the added benefit of letting you adjust the size of the rod with rod extensions.
My tub is 70 1/2 x 36 1/2 so this is important.

If anyone knows of any other options for me I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks!

Susan

Look at the 'oval' rods at Signature Hardware.

Specifically the 72 x 36 would likely be the one you want.

TorontoTim,

That is a nice shower rod and I do like it but it doesn't let the curtain go 360 degrees.

I'm hoping to find one that does and is more attractive than the original one I posted. I'm sure I've seen another one. I just can't find it again.

The plumbing store has one they say can be extended to that size:

Here's a 66" one from Renovator's Supply.

The plumbing store curtain rod would work if I can find a different flange to use... the ones they have are meant to be used flat and they don't angle.

Chibimimi, thank you but unfortunately that rod doesn't let the shower curtain slide 360 degrees.

Thanks for the help.

Susie, any shower curtain holder is going to need two supports in order to stay upright. You simply have the curtain span one of the supports and open at the other. You will be able to open it fully so it stacks up on either side of the one support.

Is there a reason you need to be able to slide it all the way around the loop?

You are right but some shower curtain rods let the curtain go around 360 degrees and they aren't stopped by the supports.

I'd prefer this arrangement because of placement of a window behind the tub and because of where either the wall or ceiling supports will need to be. To protect the wood floors I want one extra wide shower curtain rather than having 3 curtains around the tub.

You can get an oval shower rod with a 1' diameter:

Plus open top curtain rings so it would get past the ceiling supports:

And to finalize, a shower curtain around that size to go all the way around.

They can can customize everything for you too if needed.

Trusake,

Thanks! I've never seen those open top shower curtain rings. That will work perfectly.
