The No. 1 sin ... seems to be adding too much soap

I was taught this years ago in chemistry class back when we had to clean glassware, of all manner of foul stuff, back before "disposable test tubes". The No. 1 sin, according to repair people and appliance experts, seems to be adding too much soap to washing machines or dishwashers.

"Most people use 10 to 15 times the amount of soap they need, and theyÂre pouring money down the drain," Mr. Schmidt said.

I fill my dishwasher detergent holder only half way and use half a capful of laundry liquid. My clothes and dishes come out very clean.

You know I have also read that many people are using too much soap especially in their washer machine. I am one of those people. They say that because most newer washer machines are more water efficient and use less water they need less soap. But when you but more than need in the washer you run the risk of hurting it in a couple of ways.
