Best vacuum for pet hair

I also posted this on the appliance forum, but was recommended to post here too.

Looking for lightweight vacuum for pet hair (dog), uses bags, cannister or upright, carpet and wood. Thanks for any recommendations!

I'm on a dog forum, and people there love the Dysons. Not sure that they are lightweight. I have a cordless Dyson stick that is great for dog hair, but probably wouldn't be very useful on carpet.

I have found the Miele pet vac works best. You can find it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I killed my last dyson with my st Bernard's hair, found hem to be too plasticky too.

We switched to a Miele cat and dog and it is ten times better than the dyson ever was. Much better clean and does well with all the cat and dog hair in the carpets.
