Which White Grout and Which Sealer? - Cross-Post

kitchenkrazed09March 19, 2012

This is a cross-post from the Kitchens Forum, but I thought I would be able to get some great advice here, as well.

I'm about to have my backsplash installed and would like to use a bright white grout. Any recommendations for grout? How can I keep the grout looking white? What type of sealer should I use? My backsplash will be matte subways from Heath Ceramics. Is it bad to use a sealer with matte tiles? (I plan to test it first, but was wondering if anyone has first-hand experience?) Thanks in advance!

Any good quality grout is fine. For joints 1/8" or LESS, use unsanded. For 1/8" or more, use sanded....I like sanded...shrinks less.

Any good penetrating sealer is OK to use. Aquamix is one.

Thanks Lazarususa. I had e-mailed Heath Ceramics and they responded that a sealer may discolor the tiles and make them look glossy. I think I may try Latricete's Permacolor grout in Bright White (rather than having to seal each individual grout line).

Does anyone foresee any problems with Permacolor grout? Thanks for any advice.
