using controls on stackable w/d when you're short

mamadadapaigeMarch 27, 2012

I am looking into a stackable washer/dryer combo for my remodel ... it seems you have to be really tall to make this work.

can anyone shed some light on this subject?

thanks!

Ask in the laundry forum.

I stacked my LG pair. The center of the dryer door is at nose-level. I did not use their stands, the washer is on the floor. I don't have any issues with reaching the dryer controls, I'm 5'11". I did have to move the dryer plug a little bit up the wall for the cord to reach. They do make longer cords.

This set up does not work for the vertically challenged. I am one and used my DD's step stool. The most frustrating thing was to move wet washed laundry into the dryer.

Another shorty. I bought a smaller Frigidaire set to stack and I can just barely reach - but I can.

thanks for the feedback. i wonder if there are models meant for stacking where the washer controls are on the bottom of the unit and dryer controls on the top to make it easier for us who are "vertically challenged"

I am 5'3" and have the Frigidaire Affinity stacked. I have no problem reaching the dryer controls.

mamadadpaige, you put the dryer on top, it's lighter. As you don't bolt them together, the washer would viabrate off in the spin cycle.

ahhh... caddi - makes so much sense!

does anyone know if the ASKO family size units would actually work for a family? they are quite a bit smaller than my Miele set. I could really use the extra space.

We have a Whirlpool Duet stackable and our 5'2" nanny has no problem using it.
