Shower slide bar for uneven surfaces

DreamingoftheUPMarch 17, 2014

I'm considering adding a hand shower to my tub/shower combo. One possibility would be to use hooks at a few levels.

Another possibility would be a slide bar, however the problem I have is my tiles do not go all the way up the wall. So, to mount it at the proper height, the bottom would be on tiles and the top on the plain wall surface. Of course, I could mount the bar lower, or make a pad of tiles for just the top mount, however, my question is - is there a slide bar made with adjustable mounts for this situation?

You need some kind of waterproof material to 'shim' the upper mount.

My thought is to use a hole saw to cut a piece of cement board or plexiglass. HardyBoard can be painted.
Wood - that has several coats of poly would also work - since it's above the shower head.

Thanks for the reply. Could try instead of the tile. Was just wondering if some makes a rail with adjustable posts.
