mystery door.

sailor86September 21, 2008

On the passenger side of my mother's 2003 Ford Taurus, cut into the center console what appears to be an access of some kind. It's rather small but it's dead center in the photo. Didn't have time to check the driver's side and I could not manipulate the "door" open in the 15 seconds I had available. Anyone know what it is?

Alas, I do not see website capability to upload photos. Hence I can't post a picture of the thing, unless I missed something.

I can't be sure but it looks identical to the little door on my 1998 Ford Explorer console, passenger side. Mine is a spring-loaded door that opens up to a cigarette lighter type receptable that is used to power portable electronics and such.
Just a guess though.

mystery solved. It's simply a cover for a screw. (to remove the console I'm sure.)
