Timing belt. Hope JohnG is still on the board

gary__July 15, 2012

My daughter has a Nissan Exterra with overhead cams and a timing belt. She's 120 miles away from me so I can't go look for myself. Anyway, her boyfreind is changing the belt and tells me as the engine turns, the new belt wants to work it's way back and rub on the water pump. Any idea's what they're doing wrong if anything. I don't know anything about it and can't even see the thing so I can't venture a guess.

Thanks

They got it. The belt was just to tight.

Story of my life. My belt is too tight and I'm having problems with my water pump. :-)
