Upright Freezer Recommendations?

scrapulaMarch 20, 2012

We recently moved to Seattle and had to leave our old scratch & dent Montgomery Ward freezer behind in Florida. This monster held 25 cu ft, cost $300 and was still going strong after 15 years. It did not make the move with us, but we want one for our rental home. It will be kept in the garage, so we aren't concerned with noise or what it looks like. Locking would just be a nuisance. We looked at the Kenmore Elite/Frigidaire model with the soft zone, tilting shelves, dividers and hated it. I kind of like the Amana/Maytag with fixed door storage and adjustable wire shelves. Anyone have opinion on these, or what else would you recommend. We want at least 20 cu ft.

We got our Frigidaire from Lowes. It's been a good freezer. I keep it on -10. It was the biggest they had at the time, frost free but just plain wire shelves.

Have you done research on ajmadison dot com? You can sort by the features, size, etc that you want. They carry most major brands. Obviously not Kenmore.

Yes, I did research there. I have a local store who will order me anything and match prices. My husband wants to see everything in person. I will look at Lowes, thanks for the advice.

Try Sears outlets...you can see them in person and get a decent discount.
