Fridge door handle repair

gtrshopMarch 29, 2013

I got appliances with the house I bought. The handles on the fridge are the wrong colour (white on a black fridge), and they aren't tight. The original handles obviously became damaged or broken at some point. I don't like the fridge - side by side, so would eventually replace it, but not in the cards right now. Any suggestions on how to fix loose handles? Can I Just go indies the fridge and use nuts and bolts to tighten it up? Do I have to worry about anything in the doors? The freezer door does have a water/ice unit.

You would get more useful and appropriate answers to these questions by including the model number of the refrigerator.

There should be three more leading digits on the model number separated from the rest of the numbers by a period.

Perhaps 106.51569101?

The leading digits are the manufacturer code. Sears/Kenmore doesn't manufacture anything, their products are sourced from other manufacturers.

106 indicates Whirlpool.

Refrigerator & Freezer Door Handles (same handle on both)
2207206W subs to W10285542 (white)
2207206T --> W10285541 (almond or bisque)
2207206B --> W10285540 (black)

I will look for those leading charaters tomorrow when I'm home. My guess is that the previous owners had kids who weren't very gentle on things..and the door handles took their share of abuse.

There are numerous small holes in the doors, maybe there was a trim piece as well.. I will look at the part (via part numbers) you provided.

Thanks
