Wolf all gas vs. DCS cooktop and electrolux wall oven?

abh2March 19, 2012

I am trying to finalize my kitchen plan and keep going back and forth on range vs. wall oven. If we go range it will probably be Wolf all gas 30, but I have the opportunity to get a display model DCS cooktop 36 and Electrolux for half of the price of the Wolf. I like the fit, finish, burners (that they all simmer) and reliability of the Wolf. I also like the burners on the DCS and great reviews of the Electrolux, but wonder about reliability. I also like the sleek look of mounting the cooktop over the oven. We do also like the idea of gas for cooking meat, but wonder if I will miss not knowing the temp, etc. Please share your thoughts! Thanks in advance.

I'm not at all sure that you can actually stack those two items. Mostly, you can put a wall oven under a cooktop if they're the same size and the same maker AND labelled such that they can be used together. The bits and pieces have to line up and kind of interlock to work right. You might be able to lower the oven (though it would be very low compared to a range anyway) and raise the counter, to make other configurations work. Check with the manufacturers to be sure.

Thanks so much!! It didn't even occur that they couldn't be stacked and I don't tend to like the same cooktops as ovens, so range it is. I was shopping a bit yesterday and given the exact same feedback. Oh well, it does look nice if you can do it.
