Help On Faucet Color

newbierobFebruary 4, 2013

Hi, I just bought a vanity for a small powder room. The vanity is a medium/honey wood with a black granite top and white undermount bowl. It is a traditional style vanity. I need advice on what color faucet to buy (it will be a traditional design to match the vanity). I was initially thinking of oil rubbed bronze because I like that color, but I am wondering if that is not the best color in this situation and if I should be looking at brushed nickel or something else to act as more of a contrast against the black granite. If it matters, the bathroom walls are a deep dark red and the trim and door are painted black. The toilet is white. Thanks.

I would go with the brushed nickel. I think you could have used the oil rubbed bronze, if you had lighter walls so it would stand out rather than disappear.

With a small room and deeper colors, I think that either polished chrome or polished nickel would look stunning. I couldn't find your exact combination on Houzz but here are a few rooms that might give you an idea...

I would do polished also. Sounds like your bath could use a little sparkle.

Can you post a picture? What's your light fixture? What's the vibe of the room?

I'd say brushed nickel or polished nickel. No oil rubbed bronze. If it gets a ton of use, brushed nickel will be easier to keep looking nice - polished nickel (while gorgeous, I have in 2 baths) shows spots quite easily but it's worth it if you're willing to wipe the handles frequently.
