The bumper of my car got pulled off in a small accident. The Main resonator (hard plastic cover) on the bottom in front of the tire now has a hole.
Do I need to replace this Main Resonator? What is the purpose of the main resonator?
What are you talking about ? The resonator is part of the
exhaust system. Are you talking about the air dam ?
Its like a black square plastic container, I belive the the air filter is somehow connected to it. Let me know if you somehow need me to explain it better.
Sounds like a cooling duct or intake scoop. If it drives ok, it probably is OK.
Cars spashing water at it in Big Puddles possibly might get you in trouble though.
If it is the air filter housing and the hole is below the
filter, no big deal. If it is the air filter housing and the hole is above the filter, fix it. I'll try to explane.
There can be no leaks in the filter system AFTER the filter
as it enters the engine. If it is the intake before the
filter no biggy but fix it anyway because of possible water
contamination. If you are describing the carbon canister
in the fuel system it MUST be fixed. Actually you have to
replace it. They are usually mounted in the front right of the G.M.s and front left on fords. If it is a canister you
will get an engine code sooner or later. If it is an air
leak after the air filter you will also get an engine code.
Could it be an air intake resonator?
