Hourglass Age?

valmont325December 30, 2012

Anyone have any idea of a date for this item? or if its a well done reproduction? Stamped Italy on the bottom.

If it's stamped with a country of origin, it's usually produced after the laws required it. Early 1900s at the earliest.

It's a reproduction, and a badly treated one.

If it is a 3-minute glass, it was sold as an egg-timer for soft-boiled eggs.

Look at the break (or warped mis-aligned center joint) in the middle ring, the flaking finish, the battered edges ... looks poorly cared for.

Well upon further research, i believe its from the 70's and most likely made from wormwood which give it this distressed look.
