Silk to Delicate for Footstool?

nyboyDecember 31, 2012

I have a footstool covered in what looks like a 70s Pucci dress. I found a great silk fabric on ebay, is it to delicate for a footstool, if so what do you suggest?

Silk does not hold up well to abrasion, which would be a problem for a footstool. It might be okay if it's a heavy silk and the footstool doesn't get much use, but for durability an upholstery-weight fabric would be better. There are lots of choices -- cotton, wool, tapestry, chenille -- just go to a fabric store and ask for advice. Take a picture of the stool with you.
