floor tile spacing 1/8" or 1/16"? wall tile spacing is 1/16"

janesylviaFebruary 14, 2013

One interviewed contractor said the porcelain floor tile spacing can be made as 1/16" if I want. The wall tile spacing will be 1/16". Which spacing would be better for the floor porcelain tiles, 1/16" or 1/8" ? The tile colors are cream and yellowish for the two bathrooms.

Thank you very much.

As a DIY'er what I know from experience is that as the grout line gets smaller, it's more difficult to lay the tile - especially if the tile is not perfectly square.

I'd say a 1/16" grout line requires a good tile setter.

Go with 1/16" if the tiler can do it.
the trend is toward the vanishing grout. No grout is the best :)
