Any info on Victorian rocker and Asian panels?

erink65November 14, 2010

My g'ma gave me these a few years ago - any ideas or info on them? Any thing ideas or suggestions would be helpful - even ideas on where to search would be appreciated!

The rocker is a Victorian, between 1880 and roughly 1910 self rocker or patent rocker, probably walnut, refinished.
Can't tell you much about the it paper of fabric? What does the back look like? How big is it?

I would subcategorize the rocker as Eastlake style.

The screen looks like lacquered wood, and from what I can see the design looks fairly contemporary vs. something based on traditional Coromandel, would need to see more, though.

Thank you both!
Yes, the screens are lacquered wood and much of the inlay has broken off. I have some pieces to put back, but Im not sure if its worth it. I'll try to post closer pics tonight as well as dimensions.

I tried to get a decent pic that will show the detail of how the thing is built up but the glare from the flash was terrible :

This one shows both panels together (dirty i know - sorry)!/photo.php?fbid=1460197951408&set=a.1457759410446.2063949.1427193608&pid=31037538&id=1427193608
