asiatic pheasant, brownfields pottery

jilllleeNovember 5, 2012

I have what I think is a comport, blue and white, footed with two handles with 2 slots in each handle . As well as BP & Co on the side of the dish is 89 and below it an 8 and either side of the 89 is a flower and a bird. Can anyone tell me what the numbers signify and confirm it is a comport?

Thanks for your help,

Jillllee

Comport means to agree with....so I am sure it's not a "comport"...more likely a compote....which is a dish of cooked fruits.
Asiatic pheasant was made by many English potterys and the marks were similar....usually a sort of swirl, the words Asiatic pheasant and the pottery name or initials in a space below the swirl.
Never saw a mark on the side of a piece.
How about a picture of the whole dish and a close up of the mark in question.
