As you probably already discovered... Ges Gesch (Gesetzlich geschutzt) means "legally protected" - a patent protection found on Wehrmacht era materials.

Just been looking at old German patent law, and the marking of "Ges. gesch." is already referred to in a law and court decisions from 1916. It was in 1877 that Germany established its patent law. The number may refer to the specific law. You could contact the German patent registry, info@dpma.de . Their web site also has information in English.
