Reframing an old recessed medicine cabinet
We were planning on replacing the old 1970s wood medicine cabinet but it fits so snug and perfectly into the recessed area and other newer cabinets just did not fit as well. The old interior is just fine, the outer frame is dated and and just too narrow for what I want. I'd like to go with a shaker kind of frame in black.
Surely it is possible to remove the outer frame (I can see a seam where it was presumably glued) and construct a new face frame and door out of picture framing materials? Has anyone else done this?
