Has anyone ever owned a Mauicast bathtub by Bootz?

BluebonnetGirlK5February 3, 2013

Hi - I'm about to begin a bathroom remodel. I need an alcove tub that will fit into a 30 X 60 inch space and I would like a tub that is deeper than the standard 14 inches offered by american standard and others. I have had difficulty finding tubs that are this depth that are not acrylic. Does anyone know of a castiron or castiron-like alternative that fits this description? I've found that Bootz makes a tub called Mauicast that is deeper and 60X30 = has anyone ever owned one of these tubs? Thanks!!

Our builder used Bootz cast tubs as standard in his spec houses. After I googled reviews on the the Bootz tubs I found a common complaint was the non-skid stuff on the floor of the tub was rough on your bottom. As you're looking for a deeper tub, I'm guessing you're looking for a tub to soak/relax in as well as shower. If that's the case, I'd steer clear of Bootz.

I've linked a thread below that gives numerous options for tubs that meet your other criteria with depth greater than the 14" Kohler Villager. Hope it helps!

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate your advice and the related thread. Looking at modern bathtubs that are 60 X 30 makes me wish I hadn't already removed my old cast iron tub. No good choices!

Ditto for what mydreamhome said - we looked at the Bootz for my daughters' bathroom and the gritty bottom was a serious bummer. The girls would NOT want to sit on that and they still do take baths. We scrimped out another 2" wider so we could go with the American Standard Cambridge tub.

I used the information in this blog post as my guide - we wanted something deeper to soak in as my younger daughter takes l-o-o-n-g baths and these were some great suggestions. Good luck!

Thank you both so much for your help. I keep hoping if I stall on purchasing my bathtub another week or two that the dimensions I desire will just pop into an AS or Kohler catalogue. Fingers Crossed!!
