Refridge : which one advice

wardmanFebruary 16, 2013

Hello - i am in the process of having a home built, and have been asked to chose the size of the cutout for the fridge. I'm taking inthe overwhelming number of units out there and had a few questions:

1 - we'd like to be able to slide a soda carry pack in without removing all sodas from the box (12 pack).
2 - we like water and ice, but in many of the units the ice maker takes up lots of space in the freezer
3 - counter depth and built in seem to be where we are heaed, not sure on 36, 42, or 48 inch
4 - i think side by side best suits me
5 - i'd rather not have a second fridge, but suggest away with opinions

The other appliances will be Jennair Pro series, although someone just told me to check the Kitchenaid instead and it has standard 5 year warranty.

I have a KA french door with the ice inside, which I understand is better down the road to prevent $$ repairs. Works fine so far!

Saw a lot at the local store on Sunday. Viking seems to be the best from layout in our opinion.

Still wold love a 42 or 48" counter depth, bu tnot columns as they get too high with space/shelving.

Anyone make one besides the SZ Pro line (which has no condiment shelves..).

We have the 42" monogram. Seems to fit your checklist. The soda 12-pk slides right in on the right or left side perfectly next to the light that runs down the middle. 7 years now, perfect! It's my second one.
