antique sofa

My mother gave me this sofa, but neither of us has any idea what period/style it could be. Opinions?

Regency style......but it's a Victorian interpretation.
My guess is 1890-ish.
Looks like mahogany...
Pretty but miserably uncomfortable! I have a sofa sort of like that but mine is Empire period...used mainly to throw coats on when I am having a party!

But this has the look of a Sheraton. Does it not, Linda C?
