Kitchen Ventilation..building again

fly-weightFebruary 8, 2012

I have had a Faber hood 600cfm for 14 years and easy to clean with no problems. The only downside is I find it noisy at the higher settings. It does have a rheostat which is nice so I am not stuck with only 3 settings.

I was going to consider the ventahood but they seem to be a nightmare to clean. The thermadoor looks nice.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Get a hood with a remote or external blower. Taking the fan out of the house makes it very quiet. VAH in noisy.

I was just looking at futuro futuro..they are beautiful and seem to be reasonably priced compared to some. Any one have one?

going to a larger size lets you run it at a lower setting with less noise.

If you live where make-up air is required by code, installing a larger-than-required fan will cost mucho $$$$$ to install. Installing a fan that is only as big as required might still be your most costly kitchen appliance.

Ah, life is full of compromises....
