Pewter (?) Girl Figurine

doris104September 26, 2009

I need some help with this item. I have never dealt with pewter before but I think that is what she is made of. How can I tell? And if she isn't pewter, what would she be. She stands 3 3/4 inches tall. Thanks for the help.

Well, pewter uis many's an alloy that may contain lead, tin, antimony, copper, bismuth. But modern pewter meant for food must contain mostly tin.
Then there's spelter which contains mostly zinc...and was widely used for lamps, statues etc.
And we have nickel silver another alloy containing copper and nickel.
Because it looks fairly new from the style, I would assume it's probably a variation of nickel silver.
Is there a mark?
