My husband inherited this--I thought the regulars here would get a kick out of it. It's silver plate, probably made around 1900s. Weighs a ton!
What a centerpiece! Have you ever used it?
Nice piece, although the thought of it kinda grosses me out. FYI, they are expensive & I imagine an antique one would fetch quite a nice price!
What is the hoodlike thing? Are the hooks on the front used to hold a bird/poultry/duck carving knife? I don't think I've noticed these feature on the few presses I've seen.
OMG, makes me feel like something really exquisite has been omitted from my upbringing. I knew of pressed duck, eat duck, but never done up fancy. ;-) I got a kick out of this link on U-tube of one in use. I had to see how they functioned so it's below. Too cool.
Here is a link that might be useful: Duck Press in action
I had to look this up and am now regretting it!
The technique is rather cringe worthy LOL
Never used it--I think it's going to be a conversation piece.
mmm, tasty duck squeezins. I can has another helping?
