Sharp microwave

cookncarpenterFebruary 5, 2013

An appliance sales person told me "Sharp is making microwaves for all the high end brands, Wolf, Thermador, Dacor, Viking etc." ...I'm thinking this is a good thing since Sharp has a great reputation for Micros, and I've chosen a Viking based purely on looks, and I've read GW's general opinion of Viking...

I guess I should have phrased this more as a two part question: is it true Sharp makes all these microwaves? They happen to make one that will fit in my old Thermador spot, and accepts a wood panel front which I want...

I read your post this morning and meant to answer. As I understand it, Sharp has the monopoly on making microwaves in the US (however Panasonic may make their own). Anyway, I believe KA, Viking, Jenn Air microwaves are just " rebranded" Sharps in their own exterior finish/design.

Here's what an appliance expert says on this matter:

By the way, Viking appliances (rebranded Kitchen Aid interiors) do indeed have a nice finish.
