24" all freezer and all refrigerator?

Kristen HallockFebruary 24, 2013

DH really wants a big refrigerator. One that is built-in, side by side, and preferably ice and water in the freezer door.

He really like this huge 64" Electrolux model that we saw at a store. The problem is we only have 61" of space.

DH prefers the fridge and freezer to be the same size. But he can deal with 1 unite that has a bigger fridge too.

So, any suggestions? It would need to be stainless steel.

Check out Liebherr, we have that setup, two 24" units, ours is the SBi1, I think if i remember off hand.

So far we love it, but only have had it a few months. Ours has panels on it, but I am fairly certain they make it in SS.

Whirlpool makes a freestanding all-refrigerator (link below) and freezer that are 30" wide each and stainless steel. No through the door ice/water, but most separates don't have these including the Electrolux you mentioned. (Check that they can be placed side by side with no air space beneath them, but I think they can be.)

Ok, I thought I found a solution with the Liebherr 24" all-fridge and all-freezer...but the fridge is only 13.8 cubic feet. Is that going to be pretty tiny? Right now I have a 36" side by side KitchenAid that is 25 cubic feet total. I imagine the fridge portion is about 15 cubic feet since thats what I'm seeing on newer KA fridges with the same total space. Is 1 cubic foot going to be noticeable?

Our household is 2 adults and 2 children (ages 5 & 7 now).

I also looked at some Northland models and that seemed great too until I read that they can be noisy. My house has a very open floor plan on the first floor and I dont want to hear the fridge humming all day. But at the same time we will have a 36" gas range and the hood that goes over that, but at least that thing wont be in-use 24/7.
