Capodimonte lamps

ms01634August 5, 2010

Does anyone have any knowledge of very old capodimonte lamps. I have two porcelain lamps. One has a black horse on it. Both have 8X8 brass bases, and inside the porcelain on the bottom is the only marking. One says capodimonte #332 ITALY, and the other says capodimonte #362 ITALY. Both of these markings are hand written. They have been in my family at least 55 years. No idea of their history before that.

To the best of my knowledge Capo di Monte is never marked "Capo di Monte"...I think what you have is something in the Capo di Monte style.

Thats interesting Linda. I have to say, I've seen nothing anywhere about this marking on a capodimonte lamp either. Do you think that is the case at any age? Thanks
