Help identifying Japanese Tea Set

Hi there, I was hoping someone could help. I have inherited this japanes tea set and know NOTHING about it! Any help would be much appreciated.

It's geisha ware...also called "geisha girl" satsuma porcelain with a "river's edge design.
The "japan" mark indicates it was made between 1891 and about 1929....there is another mark that may nail the date closer....but I can't see it well in your pictures.

No, the simple Japan mark would not indicate those years. It could be found on any imported Japanese pottery manufactured after 1921, other than the post WWII occupation years. In fact it's still quite legal to mark it such today. Satsuma has become an occidental generic term for that style of china, but it shouldn't be. Satsuma is a specific china made in a specific area and just looking at this example doesn't give any clues it is or not, although you will see examples listed as such on places like ebay and etsy. I do not believe this set to be that old at all. If it is, it's not typical in its style. If you get a little clearer picture of the red maker's mark, I may or may not be able to help.
