Vanilla flavored vodka to make Kahlua

connie0751November 25, 2010

Just wondering if anyone has used vanilla flavored vodka instead of vanilla beans or liquid vanilla to make Kahlua. I used the vanilla flavored vodka in my last batch and thought it tasted quite good. Anyone else have comments/suggestions?

No, but I have a super easy recipe to make Kahlua. I used to make it during Christmas to give away as presents, and everyone loved it.

3 cups sugar
3 cups water
10 teaspoons instant coffee

Bring to a gentle boil; stir constantly for about 20-30 minutes. Remove from stove, then add:

4 teaspoons vanilla
1 quart vodka (4 cups)

Stir and let cool completely before pouring into a bottle (I used the vodka bottle).
