X-posted :Antique bed? What style, pls.

avaeiaJune 25, 2012

Hi all, I just posted this on the furniture forum thinking this bed was probably not antique-- but in case it is-- can anyone identify it? What style would you call it?

Thanks so much!

The following was my orig. post on the furniture forum:

Does anyone know what to call this type of bed frame? The headboard and footboard are shown. I don't think it's necessarily antique (although the casters could have been added later), but it's not new. What style might it be? Any info appreciated greatly. Thanks for your help! :)

The designer was riffing off of a pierced ladderback Chippendale chair, see link.

Fori is not pleased

I was thinking it looked like my chairs! That style was popular in the '40s for chairs. Very cool as a bed!

Thank you both, mongrel and fori.
These are from an antique store and are mahogany.
I have tried to find similar -- and see the chairs, but not any beds.
Has anyone out there seen this style as a bed?
Thanks so much!

That looks a lot like my ex-MIL's old bed style, from the 1940s or 1950s.

Vintage and very pretty.
