Antique chair identification.

Can anyone tell me what style and age this chair might be? I just got it and will start bringing it back to beauty. Thank you.

Very pretty ... looks like circa 1900 "Eastlake influenced"

Are those holes for caning holding in that fabric, and holes for caning around the seat? Or it it tacks and tack marks?

They are holes for twine. I got it at goodwill for $25. Was very excited about this purchase.

Now _that's_ Eastlake style. Most of the stuff we get asked about here is half RenRev, but tries to pass for Eastlake. This is about as pure as it gets.
The William Morris-esque willow fabric is from the correct period, but maybe leather would be more fitting for the massive lines.
It's probably solid walnut or solid mahogany, either way it's a 10 in my book, especially considering the price tag!!

I was thinking of putting a vintage look large strip camel and grey material on it. It's like a faux sued. Do you think that would work well on it?

The seat and back were meant to be hand caned . Actually it looks like Blind French cane . It also looks like there's a strip of wood broken off from the seat on the left side rendering the holes useless unless it was repaired .
if you go the cane route , you can expect to pay a minimum of $4 PER hole ! There's a little over 100 holes making up the seat .

I am going to repair the wood part and make a cushion for it. I am going to cane it myself and that should save a bundle.
