Vanity granite vs. kitchen

lastdon87January 18, 2012

Can granite (2cm) on a vanity be placed without a plywood substrate safely, in order to avoid a laminating strip to hide the plywood? It would be going on new cabinets manufactured by Cardell. Thanks in advance for your help.

2cm granite needs a plywood substrate. You can use inside corner molding matching the vanity to hide the plywood if you'd prefer to not have a laminated edge.

I've got the thinner stuff in one bathroom as well. No problems.

Thanks for the pictures, both your baths look great. I had a pretty good conversation with our granite guy and he assured me everything would be fine, even said I could stand on them if I'd like to help me feel better. Now just need to wait and see the final product, our house should be completed by the end of Feb.
