Help with embroidery design

Has anyone every seem this type of embroidery design on gingham? It is on a vintage apron (I collect these and have never seen this design). Anyone know what this is called?

Unless you have blown the pic way up....doesn't look like gingham to me...
But it does look a little like "chicken scratch"

Yes, it is way blown up to show the interweaving of the block of 1/4 inch gingham. Nothing like any chicken scratch I've seen.

Thanks Colleen! I found several examples after googling those terms. Quite a unique design and I guess another dying art. Now I'll have to buy one for my collection!
