How do you guys clean the insides of a gas grill? Do you use oven cleaner under the hood? I have an old Weber Q with Porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates. How should I clean them? Thanks.
Laying a sheet of aluminum foil down on the grates with the heat on high will incinerate any food residue in the lower half of the grill. Cleaning under the hood removes the mojo of a seasoned grill artisan.
I replaced the porelain grates with stainless steel grate. I have a weber genesis, I break it down about twice a year (use it year round). The bottom slides out and I spray all of it with geased lightning, use a scraper for the worst build up and rinse with garden hose. Let sit until dry and it's good to go.
