Hope I can jump in. I'm also in the market and have three requirements: the entire grill needs to be able to hold up to salt air near the coast, it needs to have infrared main burners as an option, and it needs to be made in in America (when spending this kind of money it sure better be supporting American jobs).

Fire Magic is made in the US and has a good warranty but was not readily apparent if it offers IR. Lynx covers the first two but their website does not list where they are made. FB announced a CA factory 23 hours ago. I just messaged them on FB and they confirmed all of their grills are made in the USA - and that they now need to update their website.

So aside from Lynx, does anyone have additional suggestions for rust adverse, IR, and US made?

If you truly want the best and money is of no concern...I would get a Kalamazoo Gourmet Grill in a heart beat. They are truly the best grills on the market. The are made in Michigan, materials and craftsmanship is top notch, while they don't offer IR burners, their burners are 25k BTUs each plus a IR rotisserie burner. The best part is the ability to use wood and charcoal and gas. Separately or altogether at the same time....LOOK NO FURTHER...this is the best money can buy....

I just went through this and ended up going with a Delta Heat 38". Made by Twin Eagles in the USA, uses 304 stainless. I telexed to to several local and online dealers about the DH, and they all were very positive on the grill. It's no Kalamzoo, but it provides a great price/value proposition. The other under consideration was the PGS 39" Pacifica.

You may consider checking out the BBQguys.com. They were vary helpful when I talked to them. I did end up buying from a local dealer. Good luck wight he shopping.

The best performing grills I've found are Klose but I think they only offer a gas starter not gas cooking. Results are much better than wood hybrids from Kalamazoo and Memphis or all gas. Klose also offer a grill w/ offset firebox if you want to also be able to do BBQ.

If you are set on gas you might also want to include Alfresco in your search.

BTW, an issue to consider with Kalamazoo is the size of wood that it will fit and work well in it.

Delta Heat 38" - is what are considering. Good grill but not way too pricey.

I shopped around and settled on the Weber Genesis. I highly recommend it. Got it a little while back and I can't stop using it, even in the colder months.

Is it a built in or a free-standing? I'm looking for a builtin - into my kitchen island in my backyard

Firemagic is the way to go. You can configure the burners in many different ways. You would have to check with all manufacturers as to type of stainless used for salt air. My grill has 3 cast burners that are 33,000btu each. I could replace one or more with infrared. This is like the rolls-royce of grills and cost as much.
