Lladro collectors?

tiogaMay 26, 2002

Hi, does anyone out there collect LLadro porcelains from Spain. I think I have a limited edition and would like to know if anybody can tell me. It's a matte finish bust of a little Basque girl with long hair, asleep, sitting on a rock and holding a baby sheep in her arms. She is over a foot high.

I suggest you try ebay and see if you can find someone who is selling Lladro and ask them for a source of information.

There is a website called http://www.lladrolady.com that has an extensive data base for you to research your pieces. You can initiate your search by lladro number (if known), keyword, figurine name, sets by theme or categories, etc. I have quite an extensive collection and found this site very user friendly to i.d. my pieces and determine their worth. Hope this helps.

The matte finished pieces seem to be relatively rare. I have a large piece--an elegant couple, complete with walking stick--that my husband gave me for Christmas about 15 years ago. I found it listed in one of the online guides, and discovered it has increased significantly in value.

I also have some of the more common glazed pieces. I favor the plain pieces over the elaborate ones. I love the simplicity of form.

That is a good web site. I found mine on there. I got it as a gift. I love windowshopping Lladro pieces. My husband's cousin has many limited edition Lladro Disney pieces, a lot of them signed.

Here's the one I have! I'm very proud of her. The detail is extraordinary.
