Brick wall + bath tub + tiling

JanSeptember 21, 2010

I am remodeling old bathroom. You can see the brick wall with window. Inside, the wall has thin-wall construction bricks ? some of them I managed to break. Outside, the wall is full brick (brick length thick). Side walls are framed with plaster on the top and steel mesh with mortar and bricks on the bottom which I removed.

Does anyone know, what is the best way to water proof and tile the brick wall? I do not have a space to add a frame for cement board.

Is there a mortar compound which is water proof and still can hold the tiles?

Thank you for your help.
